Bracon hebetor parasitizes the caterpillar stage of the Indian meal moth, in the late larval stage of the mediterranian flour moth and the almond moth. Bracon hebetor is a tiny parasitic wasp that preys exclusively on indian meal moth larva, flour moths, and almond moth caterpillars external to the grain. It is mostly suited to large bulk storage facilities where there are large numbers of moths present so there is ample food and breeding sources for the tiny wasp.Life Cycle: The tiny female parasite paralyze and lays her eggs in the late instar moth larvae. Each female will produce approximately 100 eggs. One to eight tiny parasites develop per pest host larvae. At thiry degrees C, from parasitism to adult emergence the life cycle is approximately ten to thirteen days. The adult female parasite will live about 23 days. The Bracon hebetor wasp has gut enzymes that quickly break down two major blood proteins in moth larvae making it a very effective biocontrol agent.RELEASE INSTRUCTIONS:
